Killarney Carpet and Furniture OSullivan Cup East Kerry Junior Championship

Listry 2-15  Cordal 1-9

Listry progressed to the Quarter Final of the Killarney Carpets and Furniture Centre OSullivan Cup East Kerry Junior Championship, with a convincing display at home against Cordal. It was nip and tuck in the opening quarter with the sides scoring some lovely point, despite wet cnditionss. Both sides could thank their goal keeper for great saves from point blank raspers before Peadar Keane found the net for Listry in the 9th minute. The home side led 1-2 to 0-3. There were a scatter of points, and Listry increased their lead to 4 points 1-6 to 0-5 with 10 minutes remaing in the half. Cordals Kieran O Donoghue made a surging run forward setting up Brian Reidy who rattled the Listry net for a well workd goal 1-6 to 1-5 on the 25th minute. Two Listry points without reply left the score at the break: Listry 1-8 Cordal 1-5.     

In the second half the sides exchanged scores in the opening quarter, and went nto the last the minutes with the hme side leading 1-11 to 1-07. However, Listry showed skill and determination and sealed their victory with a Gary O Sullivan goal, and with Derry Ahern dominating the middle area of the field. A number of points for both sides saw the final score: Listry 2-15 Cordal 1-9.

Listry play Dr Crokes in the quarter final while Cordal await the draw for the Bill Tangney Cup competition.

Spa 5-12 Glenflesk 2-10  

Spa hosted neighbours Glenflesk on Tuesday evening and both teams played well despite the rainy conditions. Spa had the better start as Cormac Cronin sent in a high ball to Ryan O’Call who kicked Spa’s first goal, Cormac Cronin scored the second and a third Spa goal from Niall McCarthy right before half time had Spa leading 3-6 to 0-7 at half time.

 

Cormac Cronin found the net again on the restart and a scramble in the Spa goal a few minutes later after Gavin Kelly’s shot was blocked finished to the back of the net. Glenflesk’s Stephen Lacey and Spa’s Niall McCarthy swapped late goals as the game ended Spa 5-12 Glenflesk 2-10

Tatler Jack East Region Minor League Round 3

The round 3 games in division 1 of the  Tatler Jack East Region Minor League saw Firies host Dr Crokes. The first half was a very tight affair. A Jack Kelliher goal for Dr Cokes gave the visitors a 2 point lead at the break Dr.Crokes 1 -4  Firies 0-5. The second half continued to be an entertaining game. Fires Ciaran Flynn scored a goal from a penalty and the game was in the melting pot. However,  a last minute goal from Lee Downing left a final score in favour of Dr Crokes 2 – 8 to Firies 1 9.  The second fixture in division 1 (Rathmore V Kenmare group of clubs) did not go ahead. This means that Rathmore meet Firies in a playoff for a place in the semi final against the Kenmare group of clubs on Thursday 3 August at 7.30pm. Neutral venue TBC. Extra time if necessary. Dr Crokes have qualified for the division 1 final.

There were 2 games played in division 2. Beaufort travelled to Glenflesk for their round 3 game. Glenflesk proved the stronger in the opening half. However, a goal from Johnathan Kissane kept Beaufort in touch and Glenflesk had just a 1 point lead at the break for their efforts. Glenflesk 0-09.  Beaufort 1-05. The second half was a different story.  Beauforts goal scorng ability proed the difference between the sides. The gaem was in the melting pot going into the last ten minutes when 4 goals in quick successions gave the visitors a convincing win. Beauforts Johnathan Kissane, William Joy, Ciaran Kennedy and Keith Floyd on target. Final score  Glenflesk O-17  Beaufort 5-10.

Gneeveguilla hosted Sartaglen/Cordal in the second division 2 game played last week, in the Tatler Jack East Region Minor league. Gneeveguilla led 0-08 to 0-06 at half time. The second half was also a close affair, with the sides scoring a goal a piece. S Walsh got most of the scores for Scartaglen/Cordal with Sean OKeeffe and Shane Carmody in good form for Gneeveguilla. Referee Brian Hickey blew the final whistle to give victory to Gneeveguilla 1-14 to 1-12.  The division 2 Round 4 games go ahead this week, with Scartaglen/ Cordal at home agaist Beaufort while Killarney Leion host Gneeveguilla. Both games at 7.30pm

 

In division 3 Fossa had a cnvincing win away against Kilcummin. Fossa led Fossa 4-07 Kilcummin 0-07 at the short whistle and extended their lead in the secodn half notching up 4 goals to 2 for Kilcummin. Eoin Talbot, Rory Doyle, Emmet O Shea, Eunan Weldon and Ryan Sheehan accounted for Fossa goals while James Nagle and Dara Lehane replied for Kilcummin. Final score: Fossa 8-16 Kilcummin 2-09. The second game played in division 3 saw Spa record a convincing win agains Currow 2-23 to 2-08. This means that Fossa host Currow in the Division 3 Semi Final at 7.30pm on Thursday. Extra time if necessary   

MD OShea East Region Under 14 League

Through to the Division 5 and 6 Finals on Tuesday 8th August are  in Division 5 Firies and Currow while in Division 6 Cordal/Scartaglen meet Rathmore. Time and venue TBC
