FRANK DORAN SAFEGUARD SECURITY EAST KERRY SENIOR LEAGUE
DIVISION 2 FINAL
Firies 2-14 Templenoe 1-08
Firies took the title in the division 2 Final of the Frank Doran Safeguard Security East Kerry Senior League, after a fast paced game in Glenflesk against Templenoe on Friday night. Templenoe played with determnation to the final whistle but were unlucky on front of goal and saw point scoring opportinutues carried wide by the wind. Firies were more economical with the ball, dominated the middle area of the field for periods and Jack Sherwood strengthend their defence dropping back at key times.
Firies got off to a dream start with a goal in the first minutes of the game. Jack Sherwood travelled through the middle and passed off to Conal Murphy, who gave the goal keeper no chance and buried the ball to the net. The sides swapped points. Templenoe were dominating the middle area of the field and were denied a goal by Firies goalie Billy ORourke. However, Shane Cronin won the ball passed to Danny Cahalane who found captain Brian Corwley and the sides were level 1-1 apiece in the 8th minute. A scatter of points had the minimum between the sides and Templenoe were pressing on goal, when an injury to Killian Spillane in the 12th minute, forced a substitution. Templenoe again created a goal chance only to be denied by Jack Sherewood. Firies dominated the scoring in the remainder fo the half, notching up 6 points to 3 and created a goal chance only to see the ball skimming wide. Score at the break: Firies 1-9 Templenoe 1-5.
Templenoe needed to get ont he scoreboard early in the second half but it was Firies that added to their tally, popping over 2 nice points within as many minutes. Play varied from end to end and Templenoes Teddy Doyle scored a huge point in the 12th minute followed with a second minutes later. With Firies dominating the middle area of the field, good play from Jack Sherwood, set up William Courtney who netted the ball for Firies second goal opening a 7 point lead 2-11 to 1-7 with 12 minutes remaining on the clock. Three Firies points to one for templenoe left the full time score: Firies 2-14 Templenoe 1-8

Dr Crokes 5-6 (21) Kilgarvan/Tousist/Templenoe/Kenmare 4-9 (21)
This was a great game of football, between two evenly matched division 1 teams. Played in Lewis road, the game was strongly contested and close throughout. Dr Crokes went ahead in the second half but the Kenmare District group of clubs came back to level the game, which ended as a draw. Final score: Dr Crokes 5-6 (21) Kilgarvan/Tousist/Templenoe/Kenmare 4-09 (21)

Glenflesk 0-18 Gneeveguilla 0-7
Glenflesk took the league points when they travelled to Gneeveguilla for this division 2 round 1 game. The visitors picked off points and led at the break 0-12 to 0-7. Glenflesk continued to take their scores well. Gneeveguilla played to the final whistle and their pressure paid off when Evan Cronin scored a goal with 2 minutes on the clock However, Glenflesk held on for a well deserved win. Final score: Glenflesk 0-18 Gneeveguilla 1-8. Referee Denis OSullivan (Scartaglen)
Scartaglen/Cordal 3-11 (20) Killarney Legion 1-16 (19)
Killarney Legion Minors kicked off their East Region division 2 league campaign on Thursday evening at home to Cordal/Scartaglen. Both teams served up an entertaining and open brand of football despite being without a number of regulars due to the competition rules. Killarney Legion, playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half dominated possession but went in at half time only leading by the minimum Killarney Legion 1-8 (11) Scartaglen/Cordal 2-4 (10).
The second half continued in a similar manner with Killarney Legion creating numerous chances but not converting many of them from good positions. A goal for the visitors which opened a 4 point gap with 10 minutes left to play was to prove decisive. However, Killarney Legion clawed the lead back to 2 points with time running out. Again, despite creating a number of good chances in front of goal that vital last touch eluded them and a late converted free left the minimum in it at the final whistle. Whilst many felt that a draw would have been a fair result, it was not to be and the visitors took the league points on a final score of Scartaglen/Cordal 311(20) Killarney Legion (19)
Referee: Brian Fleming (Currow)
Spa 3-11 Fossa 2-10
Fossa played Spa on Thursday evening in division 3 of the East Kerry Minor league. This was a very entertaining game played in a great sporting spirit, Spa had the better of the exchanges early on when a Rory OKeeffe goal gave them a great start. However, Fossa gradually got a foothold around midfield and a brace of points from Liam Buckley left the half time score reading Spa 1-06, Fossa 0-07. The second half was a cracking encounter with the lead exchanging hands on several occasions, Fossa reeled off three points to take the lead. Then a Niall McCarthy goal gave Spa new impetus, goals from Liam Buckley and Lee Lenihan then handed the lead back to Fossa. Towards the latter stages of the half Spa took a grip of the game with an Eoin Carroll goal giving them the platform to run out winners on a score of Spa 3-11 to Fossa 2-10.
Referee: Christy Crowley (Gneeveguilla)
