East Kerry GAA Annual Convention – Thursday 18 January 2018

The 2017 Annual Convention – East Kerry GAA 

was held on 

Thursday 18 January 2018 – in The Killarney Heights Hotel

after Mass kindly celebrated by Fr Paddy O’Donoghue

Johnny Brosnan, Currow took up the role of Chairman

The Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and Hurling Officer wer reutrned unopposed.

John Dineen, Fossa CLG was elected as Vice Chairman  -fillign the role vacated by Johnny Brosnan – due to the 5 year rule.

The PRO Role, now vacant – due to the 5 year rule – remains to be filled. The New PRO will have the full support and backing of the East Kerry Communications Committee.

The Annual Convention will start at 8pm  – after Mass which will be celebrated at 7pm. See below for Motions down for  decision

Motions for 2017 East Kerry Annual Convention

  • When a club make a request to the East Kerry committee or fixtures committee either verbally or in writing to play a game on a certain date, their opponents be consulted –  Gneeveguilla CLG

  • That when a club are playing in a Munster championship game, county final or league play off, that they not be ordered to play a game the week before if they have players involved from the team  – Gneeveguilla CLG

  • That the current EK League in its present format be discontinued  – Spa CLG

  • That the teams in Division 3 and 4 of the county league play in a league basis for the Fr. Galvin Cup. This competition to commence in late February  – Spa CLG

  • The winners of the Fr. Galvin Cup enter a competition among the remaining eight clubs to play a knockout (quarter final) competition for the O’Donoghue Cup  – Spa CLG

  • When a club is due to be involved in a Kerry County Championship Final or a Munster Club Championship fixture they shall not be required to play in any game arranged by the East Kerry Board, or the CCC of same, on the weekend immediately before such Kerry County Championship Final or Munster Club Championship fixture –   Dr. Crokes CLG

  • That each club in the East Kerry Division be supplied with an updated and current copy of the East Kerry Board bye-laws  – Dr. Crokes CLG

  • When a club gives a walkover in the Quarter Final or Semi Final of the East Kerry championship O’Donoghue Cup, O’Sullivan Cup or Fr Galvin Cup, the team they beat in the previous round should be allowed to progress in the competition –  Kilcummin CLG
