The Colm Cooper 13 aside tournament took place on Saturday in Lewis road. The games were 13 minutes aside with unlimited substitutions. The standard of football on display was superb with all teams performing well on the day. Skerries Harps defeated Corofin in the cup decider. Dr Crokes defeated Kilmurry Ibrickane in the plate decider. Thanks to all management teams and players for taking part in the well run event. The level of support during the day was fantastic for all teams with great sportsmanship in evidence during all games.

The 2016 Colm Cooper Invitational Tournament takes place on Saturday 24 September in Dr Crokes club grounds, Lewis Road, Killarney. The format of the tournament is 13 aside for under 13 year-olds, in keeping with the jersey number that Colm is most associated with.
Participating Clubs: Dr Crokes (Kerry), Skerries Harps (Dublin), Castlebar Mitchels (Mayo), Kilmurry/Ibrickan (Clare), Bishopstown (Cork), Ballyholland Harps (Down), Colmcilles (Meath), Corofin (Galway).
Teams will play in groups to qualify for the Cup and Plate semi-finals and finals. The tournament trophies and medals are sponsored by the Coffey Family in memory of the late Denis Coffey, RIP, a former player and Club Officer with Dr Crokes. Chairman of the Tournament Organising Committee, John OShea, said Apart from being a memorable occasion for the young players, it is a wonderful day for both the Cooper and Coffey families as well as a proud day for Dr Crokes Club.
Games commence at 11.30am and the tournament is scheduled to be completed by 6.30pm. The Organising Committee look forward to another successful tournament and issue an invitation to everyone to come and see the players of the future. Colm Cooper say that he enjoys this annual event. I really enjoy these games, as the players are very honest and the skill levels seem to improve every year.
