The sides were level at the edn of normal and the game went to extra time. Killarney Legion won after extra time

After a great sprotign game of football, East Kerry Coiste na nOg Sean O’Sulllivan thanked the Referee (Donal Casey) and all from Fitzgerald Stadium Committee; he congratulated both teams on a skilfull sporting game of football and presented the cup to the winning Glenflesk captain, John Kelleher

Ned Myers Perpetual Sheild

The Ned Myers Perpetual Sheild is presented annually to the winners of the East Kerry Under 14 Division 1 Championship. Ned was heavily involved in almost every aspect of Fossa C.L.G serving as Senior Chairman, during which time the club enjoyed success in Scr .He  In the Juvenile section he served as trainer, mentor, selector, delegate to Kerry Coiste na nOg and haulier to and from games . In an effort to cram an extra passenger into his already laden car, his famous catch- phrase was, easy now boys, big lads at the bottom, small fellas on top.   He also trained the senior team who were promoted during his tenure. In the early 1950s when Fossa didnt have a club Ned played with Kilcummin at minor and senior level, reaching the 1954 ODonoghue Cup Final. Ned, the first manager of Muckross House Folk Museum is also remembered as Secretary of the Killarney Tourist Development Company His untimely death at the age at the age of 49, in 1986, was a severe body-blow to Killarney, his native Fossa, and particularly to his wife Sheila and young family (Tom Long, pers comm). Ned Myers family presented the Sheild to the East Kerry Board .

The East Kerry GAA U14 Championship draws will be carried out on Wednesday evening 17 October  at the  Killarney Heights Hotel at 8pm

These will be as follows:

Glenflesk, Dr Crokes, Kilcummin and A

(A) = Winner of  Firies V Killarney Legion

Cordal/Scartaglen, Fossa,  and Loser of (A) above ie (Firies V Killarney Legion)

The tie (A) above has been delayed due to a draw and then postponed as mark of respect to Niall McGillicuddy RIP

 

One consideration for Division 3 to save a week,  could be to allow the loser of (A) straight to the  Division 3 Final and a semi final between Cordal-Scartaglen v Fossa.

Note: The above draw, for this years East Kerry U14 Championship  was made on Monday night at Fitzgerald Stadium in the presence of Timmy Clifford (Firies), Seanie Culloty (Killarney Legion), Con Griffin (Dr Crokes/Fitzgerald Stadium) and Aine Ni Shuilleabhain East Kerry PR and Communications Committee.
