JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION ONE FINAL
 Kilcummin 2-10 Dr.Crokes 0-8
Kilcummin are Division One champions in the Patrick Doyle Haulage sponsored East Kerry Junior League having defeated Dr. Crokes in the final on Tuesday night last.  Conditions were perfect for good football, a warm summer evening, no wind and a perfect sod on the Dereen pitch. A regrettable feature of the game was that referee Con Carroll had to retire at half time with a leg injury. He was replaced by his linesman Darren O’Shea.
Kilcummin had fast mobile forwards and men of physique in the key vital positions with Ritchie O’Connor, Diarmuid O’Donoghue, John O’Keeffe and Robert Casey leading the challenge. The Kilcummin outfit also benefited from providing good support and options to the player in possession. But the key to Kilcummins victory was the close and intelligent marking by the Kilcummin full back line of Muiris Healy, Tommy Cooper and Patrick Buckley that limited the usually accurate Dr Crokes full forward division of Denis Galvin, Edmund O’Sullivan and Keith O’Leary to just four points.
Dr Crokes was not as cohesive in their play with their players often left isolated when in possession. Their goalkeeper David Neeson gave a brave performance while outfield Niall O’Connell, Pa Moloney and Brian McMahon tried hard to raise the confidence of their colleagues.
Dr Crokes got off to the better start and in typical whirlwind fashion they had the Kilcummin defence under pressure in the opening minutes. They went ahead in the first minute with a point from Denis Galvin and three minutes later Galvin fisted Dr. Crokes second point. By the fifth minute, Dr Crokes was three points up when Philip O’Connor placed Keith O’Leary for a good score.   Kilcummin’s opening point came in the eight minute after a well worked move saw Ger Sheehan hit the target. Michael O’Shea added another point in the twelfth minute to leave a point between the sides. By now Kilcummin had settled into the game and had reacted well to the early Dr Crokes onslaught. They were rewarded with their first goal of the evening when they put the town defence under pressure and won possession
. Full forward Diarmuid O’Donoghue made no mistake crashing the ball to the net for an inspirational Kilcummin goal.  Kilcummin extended their lead with points from Ian O’Leary, Ian Devane and Robert Casey to leave Kilcummin leading 1-5 to 0-3. Dr. Crokes added points in the closing minutes of the first half from Niall O’Connell and a free from Denis Galvin.Half time score- Kilcummin 1-5. Dr. Crokes 0-5.
A Keith O’Leary free opened the second half scoring for Dr. Crokes reducing their deficit to two points. That was as close as Dr Crokes came to their opponents for the remainder of the game. Kilcummin missed a chance to put another goal on the board when Ian O’Leary blasted wide from a good position. But the Dr Crokes challenge was beginning to crumble in the face of fast determined play by the Kilcummin side. Challenges by both sides were tough and uncompromising and play was held up on occasions as players recovered from tackles. Ten minutes into the half, Kilcummin put their stamp of superiority on the game when they stuck for their second goal. An Ian Devane 45m free was collected by Ger Sheehan who crashed the ball to the net. This was followed by two long range points from Anthony O’Sullivan and Robert Casey bringing the score to 2-7 to 0-6 in favour of Kilcummin. Dr Crokes replied with a point from Niall O’Connell but  Kilcummin extended the lead further with points by Anthony O’Sullivan, Kevin McCarthy and Ger Sheehan. Dr. Crokes Niall O’Connell kicked the final point of the game to leave the final score Kilcummin 2-10, Dr.Crokes 0-8.
After the game Joan Doyle accompanied by Dermot Griffin Chairman East Kerry presented the James Doyle memorial trophy to the Kilcummin winning captain Robert Casey.

Junior League Division 2 Semi Final
Firies 2-14 Legion 1-4
Firies qualified to meet Glenflesk in the final of division 2 of the Patrick Doyle Haulage Junior League when they defeated Legion by ten points at Currow last Tuesday evening. Although Firies dominated play for much of the game, poor shooting in front of goal allowed Legion to stay in touch. With Firies 0-4 to 0-1 ahead after fifteen minutes, good support play between Brian O’Reilly and Nigel Shevlin enabled the latter to level the match with a fine goal. Legion had the upper hand at midfield where the strength of Michael B O’Donoghue and Sean O’Donoghue was decisive. However, it was Firies that continued to do most of the scoring adding a further four points before half time when they led by 0-8 to 1-4.
On the resumption two points from Eamon O’Mahony and John Hayes stretched the Firies lead to three points  - 0-10 to 1-4. But rash defending by Firies gave Legion a penalty and Brian Reilly leveled the game with an emphatic strike after eight minutes.  However, instead of taking courage from that score, the bottom fell out of the Legion game plan when Sean O’Donoghue earned himself a red card. From there to the finish, it was advantage to Firies as they powered their way to the final whistle scoring a further 2-4 to no score for Legion. The two Firies goals came from Tadhg Keeffe and Eamon O’Mahony leaving the final score Firies 2-14 Legion 1-4. Scorers for Firies were Steven Flynn (0-5), Eamon O’Mahony (1-2) and Tadhg Keeffe (1-1), while John Hayes and James Daly contributed 0-1 each. For Legion Nigel Shevlin scored 1-1, Brian Reilly (1-0 pen) and Michael B Donoghue, Billy Maguire and Ross Lewis added a point each.

St Pats East Kerry Hurling Club
St Pats played Austin Stacks in the South Kerry Junior Hurling League on Wednesday evening last in Fossa where the visitors had a 1-15 to 1-8 victory. The concession of scoreable frees in the first half was to cost St Pats dearly and almost all of Stacks first half scores came from placed balls as they led 11 points to 3 at the break. St Pats had by far the better of the third quarter and a goal from Michael Gleeson reduced the margin to 3 points, however Stacks regained the initiative and added the winning scores in the final five minutes.
Team: Liam Young, Denis Kissane, Josh Whelan, Mike Furlong, Declan Roche, Tom Barry, Mark County, Ken O’Donoghue, Tom Coleman, John Ryan, Mark O’Donoghue, Adrian Sheehan, Declan Kelly, Michael Gleeson, Pat Clifford.
St Pats play Dr Crokes in Fossa in the final game of the South Kerry League on this Thursday evening at 7.30.
